A life in music
David Michael Seward started playing garage bands at age nine in the early 1960s.
He later helped form the Bay Area rock band The Druids and performed with Pat Simmons before the guitarist's time with the Doobie Brothers. In 1966, The Druids released “Cool, Calm and Collected” and “Sorry’s Not Enough” as the two sides of an MNO Records single. Michael went on to record and perform as a solo and duo act in California and Oregon, with a period performing in Hawaii.
Music remained a constant after Michael's path brought him back inland. He played across Montana and Idaho. Today he lives along the Clark Fork River near the Idaho–Montana border, where he is building his home in the quiet, with his horse nearby and music still at the center of daily life.
Michael's Christian faith is the center of his songwriting, and most of his songs are spiritual. Country gives the records their foundation, with rock, folk and blues also moving through the music. The catalog includes Headed Home, Raw, and the later acoustic collection Get Ready.
The recordings also became a family undertaking. Michael's son, Daniel Seward, helped him record Raw and Get Ready after the first album was recorded in Nashville. On Raw, they were joined by Scot Shaw of Soundhaus Recording Studios in California and LT2—Lenny Turner, “The Sound Mechanic”—for additional engineering and mixing support.
